Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? As Senorita Johnston has been my amazing Spanish teacher for the past few years, she has always been such a hardworking, kind, and attentive teacher to all of her students. She has always emphasized to us students how she is always there to help, correct, and be there for us. Not only has she worked so hard for us students as a teacher, but she has also been an adult I can trust and feel cared about at school. Senorita is always in her room during lunch ready to help or even just talk to. I have never been hesitant to ask her a question in class as Senorita has always been approachable and kind to her students. Something I’ll never forget is how Senorita Johnston was the only teacher to ask me how my winter break was and genuinely care and listen to my life outside of school. I am so beyond grateful for such a relatable, kind, and hardworking teacher like Senorita Johnston. As she has taught me so much in the past almost three years as my Spanish teacher, I am so excited to be spending my senior year with Senorita. Gracias for everything you do Senorita Johnston!

Every time I see her, even if I don’t have her for class, she always says hello and talks to me like a real person. She actually cares about her students and wants them to succeed. During class, she is fun and interactive with her students, but also challenges us.

Every time I’m in her class, she makes the entire class interact and feel included. She is always making jokes to make sure we are having fun and ensures that we learn in a happy environment.

I have Señorita Johnston at 7 in the morning. Trying to learn Spanish that early used to be awful. But Señorita Johnston is always inviting and kind when students come into her classroom. She spends so much time making great notes for us and doing extra help during lunch. She made coming to school this early worth it and helped me fall in love with Spanish. She never makes students feel small or unimportant, instead, she lifts us up and makes each day better.

Mrs. Johnston always makes my days. Unfortunately, i don’t have her this year anymore but i still talk to her like she is my friend. she never fails to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. i am forever grateful for getting to know her because she became someone i can talk to and be able to trust.

Ms. Johnston comes to school every day with a smile. She possesses a ridiculously positive attitude and does the work of three teachers: planning, mentoring, teaching and leading extra-curricular activities.

Unexpected repairs have forced her out of her home for the last 6 weeks, a situation that cannot be resolved quickly.

Still, she comes to school committed to her work and to the help of her students and colleagues.

Ms. Johnston is so deserving of this appreciation award; someone who gives so much and asks for so little even in the face of her personal hardship.

Please consider Cassandra Johnston (Las Vegas Academy of the Arts) for this award.
