Through our Teacher Appreciation nominations, we were able to see exactly how our teachers our impacting our kids and community. We want to recognize each nomination that has come in. With over 1700+ unique nominations, we are sharing the answers to our question posed: “Why does this teacher make you smile?”. The blogs are organized by last name of the teacher.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Retired in 21 after 30 years came back in the district as a sub because she loves teaching and feels the need to serve her community

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Ireland always has a smile and is very helpful.
Ms. Ireland makes me smile because she shows that she cares about my child. And she has also made my child feel safe in her class. She always rewards my child when she accomplishes her tasks. Therefore, she motivated my child into doing her best.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Suzanne has a very giving heart and an upbeat attitude. She always has a smile and when you are down, she knows exactly what to do or say to bring you up. Whether it is her words of “wisdom” or her “crazy dance moves”, there is no way you can’t turn your frown into a smile!
Teacher: Robert Jenkins, Jack Lund Schofield Middle School
Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? he is a nice, chill teacher, and in my first year of public schools in 7 years, he was the best teacher I have had yet.
Mr. Jenkins is an extremely amazing teacher. He cares for his students and teaches us well. I never much cared for history, and I still don’t that much, but he definitely got me more interested in it. He is funny and very laid back with the students, and often tries to relate with us.
Mr. Jenkins is just all-around great teacher. I look forward to going to his class each day. He is funny and always there to help us. I always feel welcomed when i come in his class. Overall, I will miss him and his class when we have to leave for summer. I also look forward to seeing him next school year.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Mrs. Jordan-Hicks, makes us smile because she is so caring and patient with her Kindergarten class. She is stern, but fair and makes learning so much fun for Peyton. Peyton is constantly talking about how great Mrs. Jordan-Hicks is. I am so grateful for her as an educator.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? She’s the absolute best teacher at Goolsby Elementary hands-down. She actually cares about students, and it shows by how much fun she has teaching them. Ask any of her students and they will all say she has been their favorite teacher since they started school.
She brings life and excitement to reading. My daughter never cared about reading and now she can’t get enough of it. Ms. J hoes above and beyond in every way. From weekly newsletters to parents keeping us informed to fancy Valentine’s Day parties and glow parties. She brings her joy of teaching into the classroom every day and we are so lucky that our daughter gets to be a part of it.
Ms. Jacobsen dedicates so much of her time, energy, and care to the kids. She is an amazing person as well as an amazing teacher.

She also makes me want to look forward to going to school since I can get my proper education but at the same time have fun and talk to her in class. She is also just a really relatable and understanding teacher which is why she makes me smile.

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Mrs. Johnson is so kind and understanding. She loves talking to her students and making connections. She is an advocate for kindness and how it spreads. She is an advisor for a community service club at Coronado High School. She knows high school is stressful, so she works with her students if they are having a difficult time. She helped me personally when I was sick for an entire week. She helped me slowing make-up my work so I wouldn’t stress about my grades, which she knew were important to me.

It is an impressive – she is the Gold Standard in circles of Transition! As a teacher myself, I am continuing to learn from her and I am thankful for her mentorship and friendship! Mrs. Jones adds a lot of sunshine and smiles everywhere she goes – she makes our profession look good, even on rough days!

Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? First off, I would like to say that Mrs. McKinney is truly an AMAZING teacher! She is always very nice, very supportive, is always there for any questions students have, and really wants to help you succeed. This year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, and I was struggling. However, Mrs. McKinney was always there to check up on me, support me, or talk whenever I needed to. For that, I would say that she definitely deserves this award. She is very inspiringand paves the way for the future generation of teachers.
Teachers play a significant role in our lives, and we are thankful for them and all they do for our community every single day. We understand how important their job is in student development and learning and know they work tirelessly to educate children and add value to their lives! Thank you, you are our heroes!
