Teacher: Natalie Fragiadakis, Hyde Park Middle School
Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? She has a very bubbly personality, but always makes sure her students are on task. She invokes a lot of credibility as a teacher, and emotion and relatability as a mom. She brings joy to her students and will always be understanding of a student’s situation. She is a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, allowing many students to feel at peace with their identity/sexuality. She is honestly my favorite teacher as an 8th grader.
She is what I hope every teacher will be, whether that be her great methods of teaching, or her wonderful charisma. Many students, including me, would one hundred percent say she deserves this!

Teacher: Jackie Fessenden, Goolsby Elementary
Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Ms. Fessenden, aka Ms. Ducky makes everyone SMILE. I first came to know her as my sons first grade teacher 15 years ago. The first thing you can’t help but notice is her high energy and infectious enthusiasm for teaching. She is still my son’s favorite teacher to this day. I now have the great pleasure of working with this professional and am happy to say she is even more amazing after all these years. She makes learning a fun and positive experience by treating every student with great dignity and respect. As a teacher she creates an environment focused on building positive self-esteem through high standards and well-designed instruction. Her energy, professionalism, and love for learning motivate both her students and colleagues. I can’t help but smile every time I hear her greet people in the hall with a “hello Buddy!” When it comes to creating a positive climate and culture, our “Ducky” at Judy & John L. Goolsby is second to none!
We LOVE Ms. Ducky! She is kind, thoughtful, caring and loving – and she makes class so much fun! Charlie absolutely adores her, and she has helped him overcome a fear of teachers (due to an incident at another school) through patience and understanding. We will forever be grateful for the love she has shown Charlie during such an important life transition, and we are thrilled about how much he has learned and grown in her class.
Teacher: Ricardo Flores, Canyon Springs High School

Teacher: Brian Friesen, Paul Culley Elementary
Why Does This Teacher Make You Smile? Mr. Friesen makes me smile because he has never given up on his students, even though they all had a bumpy comeback after returning to the building after COVID turned the school experience upside down. My daughter was struggling and wasn’t too enthusiastic about school, but Mr. Friesen saw the light in her and brought it out BRIGHT! He continued encouraging her and made school fun and interesting again. Jaicee’s grades are up and so is her outlook on school. I know Mr. Friesen is a big part of that, as Jaicee has nothing but good things to say about his class every day. I just want to say, “Thank you, Mr. Friesen. You rock!!!”
