If you need a mover in Las Vegas, how do you choose one? There are lots of movers in most towns, and Las Vegas is no exception. With so many companies – big, small, local, national, and even out-of-towners who seem to be locals but aren’t, with some movers licensed and some probably unlicensed – how do you know who to hire? Who can you trust? You definitely want a move that’s affordable and gets the job done. But what exactly should you be looking for, and looking out for, when selecting your Las Vegas mover?
Finding a good mover in Las Vegas
Here are some things to find out from any Las Vegas mover you are thinking of using:
Why hire a local Las Vegas mover?
If you are a resident of Southern Nevada, you know that we’re a close-knit community of cities, towns and county residents who all live together in and near the Las Vegas Valley. Why look for a company from out of state to move you within our community? You’ll save time and money by looking for a good Las Vegas mover and checking them out for some of the important questions below. If your mover has a local office and you can actually meet someone there, you know have a local mover. Beware companies that advertise for moving in Las Vegas but are really just referring you to a third party who happens to live here. If you have issues, it’s a lot easier to deal with a local company whose reputation is tied to Las Vegas and where you can get answers quickly and easily from someone in charge.
Move4Less began in Las Vegas, our headquarters are here and our staff are all locals. We’re proud of our local roots and we take being a great Las Vegas moving company very seriously.
How much do they charge?
Most people want to know how expensive their move will be. There are lots of ways to control the cost of your move, but hiring the right mover is an important one. At Move 4 Less, we live up to our name. We will always quote you a fair and affordable price, no matter what size of move you have. How do we do it? As a local Las Vegas moving company, without a national franchise to support, we can keep our costs down. And since we specialize in local moves, and know the area very well, we can do more moves, more efficiently, which helps keep our costs down, and we can pass that savings along to you. Plus, we’re really big on training our movers, and we don’t waste your time or ours, we get the job done.
Will there be surprise charges on your final moving bill?
Moves may include charges besides the cost of movers and a truck. It could be things like insurance, moving boxes, crates, mileage or fuel fees, or storage. With Move 4 Less, you will always get a written quote which will explain all the charges you will see. Your move counselor can explain them to you and let you know if any may change due to changes in your planned move. Never accept an oral quote, or requirement for an all-cash move, they can mean trouble.
How do I know the quote is accurate?
A professional mover will always give you a written quote, almost always based on a physical inspection of your belongings. With Move 4 Less, your move counselor will visit your home and take an inventory of the rooms and types of items you will be moving. From this, we can get a very accurate idea of the size and weight of your items and provide an accurate written quote. For some moves, we can even provide a flat rate move quote.
How well do they know Las Vegas?
It may not seem like a big deal, but it does matter how well a mover knows the location where they do business. For us at Move 4 Less, being local is everything. It’s more than knowing the street map, it’s knowing the people and the culture. It means that your movers are your neighbors, or may know your neighbors. For a local Las Vegas mover like Move4Less, how the community feels about us when they see our trucks, meet our movers and work with our office staff, matters a lot. Our reputation for trust, honesty and reliability all matter, since as a local mover, we depend on our reputation to help us better serve our community and grow along with it.
Are they licensed in Las Vegas and Nevada?
To protect your belongings and your money, it’s a good idea to only work with a licensed moving company. Professional moving companies will have a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) number from the Nevada Transportation Authority (NTA) and a USDOT number from the Department of Transportation (DOT) that allows them to handle interstate moves. The mover may also have an MC number from DOT. In order to get these licenses to operate, the mover has to meet certain requirements and carry a certain level of insurance coverage. These requirements are to protect you from being hurt by a scammer or uninsured mover. You should see the CPCN and DOT numbers on the mover’s website and on their trucks.
You can see Move 4 Less’ license numbers in the footer at the bottom of this page.
Are they true moving professionals?
Just because a mover has a truck and a few movers, doesn’t mean he or she knows moving. Movers need to know a lot of things to carry out a high quality move, like good scheduling so they show up on time, providing the right size truck and number of movers, preparing and protecting appliances, electronics and other items during the move, and how to work efficiently and safely, saving you time and money. And, professional movers provide written quotes, answer all your questions, and provide you with appropriate information, such as your insurance coverage.
At Move4Less pride ourselves on being true moving professionals. We have earned ProMover Certification to show that we take our profession seriously.
Can they provide affordable temporary storage between homes?
If you have to move out, but your new home or apartment is not quite ready, make sure your mover has a cost-effective solution to store your things for a few days, weeks or months. Move4Less provides affordable local storage, available on a daily basis if needed, so you don’t have to hassle with finding a place for your belongings. We’ll unload and store your items just as they were loaded on the truck, ready to reload quickly and easily to be delivered to your new home.
Can they provide packing help?
If you will need help packing, find out what your movers can provide. They should be able to provide packing help, as well as boxes and crates if you need them. If you have hard to move items, like pool tables, pianos or gym equipment, or valuables like artwork, ask if your moving company has experienced and trained staff who can professionally prepare and move these items.
